What counts as an ENM event
The ethical non-monogamy event calendar has roughly four shapes, and a healthy local practice usually mixes them. The largest are the multi-day conferences — Atlanta Poly Weekend, Beyond the Love, Poly Living, ENM Summit and its regional editions — which combine workshop programming, named speakers, and an evening community dimension. They're where most US polyamory educators and writers meet each year; they're also where people who don't have a local scene at home come to find one.
Weekend retreats are smaller and more participatory: typically 40–120 people at a campground or rented venue, an unhurried schedule of facilitated discussion and skill-building, and a strong emphasis on consent and group dynamics. The Network for New Culture summer camps and the Rocky Mountain Poly Retreat sit in this category, as do many of the regional gatherings that don't advertise widely. They're a different experience from a conference — slower, more relational, less celebrity — and often a better fit for practitioners working on their own practice rather than learning new frameworks.
The third shape is recurring local discussion groups, sometimes called munches: monthly gatherings in a café, bar, or community space, usually 10–40 people, free or pay-your-own. Munches don't make a calendar like this one because they're ongoing rather than dated — see the local pagesfor what's recurring near you. And the fourth shape is the queer-ENM-specific gatherings, which can take any of the previous three formats but are organised around the specific dynamics of queer polyamory rather than ENM in general.
Every event on this page is in-person. We don't list virtual-only events, paid online courses, or app-based communities — useful as those may be, the durable parts of ENM practice happen face-to-face. If you're organising a gathering that fits the bill, tell us about itand we'll add it.
