About ENM in Minnesota
Minnesota's ENM community is anchored in the Twin Cities — Minneapolis and Saint Paul — which together host one of the longest-running and best-organised polyamory communities in the United States. The local scene is famous within the wider ENM world for the seriousness of its educational programming: skill-building workshops, structured discussion series, and community-run conferences are unusually well-developed here.
The Twin Cities scene has strong overlap with the local queer community, with the kink scene, and with intentional-community traditions. The professional-services side — affirming therapists, family-law specialists, ENM-aware clergy — is among the most developed in the upper Midwest. Several of the most-cited polyamory educators of the past two decades have lived and taught here.
Outside the Twin Cities, the Minnesota scene narrows: Duluth has a small community, Rochester (the medical-centre city, not the New York one) has a modest professional-services-tied scene, and the smaller towns are reachable but mostly tied back to the Twin Cities for larger events. Northern Wisconsin and the western Wisconsin suburbs function as part of the same practical community.
